Position: Consultant

The Company:   Dare Mighty Things, Inc. is a veteran owned small business located in Washington, D.C.,  Portsmouth, NH, and New York, NY. As a management consulting firm, DMT specializes in helping clients to achieve important social outcomes. Its clients are primarily government, foundation and nonprofit organizations serving youth and families in need.

Purpose:  To provide training and technical assistance to mentoring programs across the country, funded through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. To help mentoring programs improve and expand their services, more effectively engage volunteers, increase long-term sustainability, and improve outcomes for at-risk youth.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Deliver On-site Technical Assistance, to include:
    • Conducting in-depth needs assessment of programs suggested for site visits;
    • Creating a custom agenda, ensuring technical assistance is tailored to the unique needs of the program;
    • Conducting multi-day site visits to selected mentoring programs;
    • Providing follow-up technical assistance post-visit, as necessary.
  • Provide Remote Technical Assistance, to include:
    • Providing technical assistance by phone, email, and online to participating mentoring programs;
    • Developing tools and resources for mentoring programs, to be hosted online.
  • Deliver Training, to include:
    • Collaborating with DMT’s Creative Learning Solutions department to design and develop training materials for webinars and eLearning modules;
    • Delivering web-based and in-person training, as necessary.
  • Submit Reports to the DMT Project Manager, monthly and as requested, on the outcomes of training and technical assistance activities.
  • Maintain Brand Image.  Proactively reinforces DMT’s corporate values and image on an on-going basis.  Ensures that all knowledge and/or best practices are packaged and disseminated in accordance with DMT’s image requirements.

Minimum Qualifications and Profile

 

Required

Preferred

Education:

  • Advanced Degree + 8 years experience; OR
  • Bachelor's Degree + 11 years experience

 

Experience:

  • Three or more years providing mentoring services to at-risk youth or consulting with mentoring programs.
  • Five or more years working for or with youth-serving nonprofit organizations.
  • Three or more years experience delivering training to youth-service programs or volunteers.
  • Three or more years managing a mentoring program.
  • Direct service experience with families impacted by incarceration.
  • Experience consulting to social service agencies.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills. 
  • Collaborative work style.
