Position: Senior Consultant
Location: Arlington, VA
Status: Regular FT/Exempt
Reports to: Program Director

The Company:   Dare Mighty Things, Inc. is a veteran-owned business with offices located in the Washington, D.C. metro area and Portsmouth, NH.  A for-profit management consulting firm, DMT specializes in creating and managing solutions that achieve important social outcomes for clients in the public and non-profit sectors.

Purpose:  Co-located at our client’s facilities in Arlington, VA, the Senior Consultant provides a full range of consulting solutions to assist and improve program management and execution.  This individual will assist the client in making operational decisions by leveraging data analysis, operational knowledge, and strategic planning, while proactively diagnosing client needs.  Implementing these tasks will require the application of deep business knowledge, organizational management theory, and technology to influence positive client outcomes. 

The Senior Consultant will also play a pivotal role in authoring and maintaining doctrinal documents for organization-wide standardization and improvement of performance in support of the client’s stated mission, goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver strategic recommendations to program leadership
  • Build capacity within headquarters staff and field leadership
  • Analyze financial, logistics, and program outcomes-related data trending, and brief decision makers on recommended strategies and courses of action
  • Provide individual and group coaching support as required, with emphasis on change management and organizational development tools and techniques
  • Assist program leadership in the identification and study of operational best practices
  • Maintain accountability and mission fidelity to ensure program outcomes, while working within the scope of DMT’s products and services
  • Supervise DMT Associate Analyst also co-located at client site

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives within an organization or for a client
  • Expert-level knowledge of organizational development and change management concepts, tools, and techniques
  • Outstanding project management skills with knowledge of various methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of Federal program management, legislative processes, budgeting, policy, and inter-agency protocols
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation, facilitation and writing skills
  • Advanced knowledge of office productivity software (including but not limited to PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel; Adobe products; web-based applications)
  • Solid understanding of instructional system design
  • Ability to travel as necessary (up to 25%)
  • Highly collaborative attitude with unparalleled business ethics

Preferred

Education / Professional Experience:

  • A Bachelor degree in business administration, organizational development, education, public policy, law, or other relevant field of study is required, and
  • 11 years of management consulting experience with emphasis on engagements in organizational consulting and / or change management.
  • Advanced degree in business administration, organizational development, education, public policy, law, or other related field is strongly preferred, and
  • Minimum 8 years of management consulting experience with emphasis on engagements in organizational consulting and / or change management.

Detailed Experience:

  • Substantial experience working with the Federal government is required.  Prior military (active duty or reserve)and Federal civilian service will receive first consideration. 
  • Prior development and maintenance of doctrinal publications using instructional system design based methodologies.

 

  • Prior experience with mentoring, education, and/or job training programs for at risk youth.
