Position: Senior Project Manager
Location: Arlington, VA
Status: Regular FT / Exempt
Reports to: Program Director

Purpose: This position plays a key role in providing expert project management, guidance, training, and technical assistance for leadership and key staff of nonprofit organizations. The role includes federal contract management, proposal development, and the implementation of training and technical assistance (TTA) programs aimed at building capacity for nonprofits. The position also includes coordinating with the Knowledge Manager to identify and disseminate best practices. TTA delivery methods include national conferences, regional workshops, one-on-one site visits, facilitating peer-to-peer TTA, online webinars, online facilitated chat, and phone and email consultations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Project Management. Manages federal contract and provides support to the Program Director as it relates to assuring quality and timeliness of all contract deliverables for assigned contracts. Ensures appropriate connections are made between the company’s ISD process, knowledge management systems, and delivery of final products and services to clients.
  • Proposal Development. Collaborates with other senior staff in leading and supporting proposal development efforts. May lead one to two proposal teams per year and provide support on up approximately four proposals per year.
  • Training Management. Manages workflow and scheduling, creates realistic schedules in coordination with other team members. Manages space, including travel schedules and venue management. Oversees and coordinates with the support team all logistical details of an event, including site selection and contract negotiation, vendor management, oversight of material creation and publication, coordination of marketing, registration, and participant travel details. Manages human, financial and logistical resources related to client training and technical assistance.
  • Training Design and Development. Plays instrumental role in the analysis and design process. Designs and manages conferences and training workshops. Works in conjunction with other staff to establish goals and objectives for each workshop. Develops original workshop curriculum based on instructional design standards and guidelines. Produces collateral material, including presentation aids, handouts, case studies, and other material.
  • Training Delivery. Creates, writes, schedules, and delivers high level, interactive training experiences both in DC and at various locations nationwide. Writes site reports.
  • Management and Delivery of Technical Assistance. Manages multiple TTA efforts among a variety of constituents. Diagnoses organizational needs and provides onsite and offsite technical assistance and coaching. Recruits and manages cadre of trainers and technical assistance providers. Develops and maintains training and technical assistance calendar. Writes site reports and delivers on-site client briefings. Creates and implements a plan that may include (based on the project) an approach to oversight, methods to assess needs, and proposed methods for providing assistance to nonprofits.
  • Research and Benchmarking. Assist Knowledge Manager and other project team members in conducting needs assessments and benchmarking activities for the purpose of designing and developing outcome-based training curriculum.
  • Brand Image. Proactively reinforces DMT’s corporate image.
Minimum Qualifications and Profile:

Education:
  • Advanced degree in education, curriculum evaluation, psychology, social work, public policy, public administration, nonprofit management, or other related social science or human services field, with an outstanding academic record.

Experience:

  • Total of ten years of directly related experience.
  • Experience relating to capacity building and the culture of faith- and community-based organizations.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proven project management and team leadership skills, including oversight of financial and human resources.
  • Quick study to develop general understanding of federal grant compliance requirements of project contracts.
  • Understanding of instructional system design and effective training and facilitation methods.
  • Understanding of evaluation and research design methods.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral, including a knack for public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Well versed in the needs of nonprofits.
  • Knowledge of general capacity building, forming strategic partnerships, leveraging and managing resources, building community support, and developing sound programmatic strategies and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook.
  • Able to multi-task effectively.
