Tya M. McGrue
Consultant

Tya McGrue has a long history of strengthening non profit organizations through her expertise and assistance in the development of self-sustaining processes. Tya has proven her compassion for individuals and families involved with direct social services through her diverse collection of experiences. During her work with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Office of Special Needs Assistance, Tya made significant contributions through program management, community outreach, resource and program development, grant writing, and as a qualified mental health professional.

As a consultant, and primarily through her administration of the Caregiver’s Choice Program, Tya provides outreach and creates partnerships between local stakeholder organizations, special interest groups, and caregivers of children impacted by parental incarceration. As a part of the Caregiver’s Choice Team, she manages both internal and external caregiver outreach efforts in the southern regions of the United States.

Tya’s history with federal housing and social service programs, including the Compassion Capital Fund (CCF), Supportive Housing Program and various social service programs within North Carolina, Virginia and Washington, DC, adds muscle to DMT’s strong consulting team. Tya earned her Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University and has furthered her studies at Howard University, earning a Master of Social Work in 2007. Tya lives in Maryland and enjoys spending time with her son and husband.
