Angela Hess Angie provides a wide range of nonprofit sector experience to Dare Mighty Things, having held a variety of roles in the fields of education and international relief and development. She has been extensively involved in applying for and managing federal and foundation grants, in positions with local and international nonprofits. She also has a great deal of experience in project coordination, research, writing, and editing. Angie has taken on many tasks with us: researching and writing content for the CCF e-newsletter and Web site; developing and editing materials, coordinating logistics, providing support for grantee workshops and other DMT-run seminars; delivering technical assistance to CCF grantees, and reviewing grantee reports for quality and compliance. Before coming to DMT, Angie served onboard the Anastasis, a hospital ship providing critical health care in West Africa. There, she managed the ship’s internal Web site; planned and coordinated writing assignments within the six-person team; and wrote more than forty news and human interest pieces. Previous to that unique experience, Angie spent four years in Washington, DC, working with World Vision, a major relief and development organization, and with a public charter school. Angie earned a BA in English from Asbury College, located just outside Lexington, Kentucky. With the exception of her year abroad, Angie has been a proud DC resident since 2001. If you’re looking for her, you’re likely to find her with junior and senior high youth from her church; watching baseball—or just about any sport; or drinking a Dr Pepper. She has big dreams for her life, including attending all four tennis “Grand Slam” events, earning an honorary doctorate, and being inducted into a hall of fame. Back to Team List |
