Malcolm Smith, PhD
Senior Consultant

Dr. Malcolm Smith is a nationally known training facilitator, consultant, author, and educator whose ideas about reaching out to angry people have been adopted by schools, residential facilities, and community programs. Each year, Dr. Smith reaches over 6,000 educators, parents, social service and business professionals attending his trainings and keynote speeches.

In spite of giving his parents a really hard time, Malcolm has been caring about people most of his adult life. He has been a teacher at the famous Menninger Clinic, and has also taught students in the backwoods of rural Georgia, on mountaintops in Colorado, and in mental hospitals, homeless shelters, and residential programs across America. He has also used these avenues to provide vital training experiences for his company, which is currently providing education, training, and consultation in over thirty states. Dr. Smith has responded to over forty-five major school violence incidents. He also has written a popular weekly parenting column for an award winning newspaper.

Malcolm has a BA in journalism and a BA in special education from Washburn University, a M.Ed. from Minnesota State University, and PhD in Family Life and Human Services from Kansas State University. He is the former director of the Karl Menninger National Youth Care Training Center where he trained over 1,200 human service professionals each year. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Washburn University.
