Pierre Perez Pierre Perez brings eight years of military experience and eleven years of experience with the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program’s Alaska Military Youth Academy to bear in his role as a consultant on DMT’s training efforts through the National ChalleNGe Institute (NCI). Combined with five years as a mental health specialist in a behavioral systems hospital, Pierre is well-equipped to provide training to ChalleNGe staff. Having served NCI as adjunct faculty since the adjunct program’s inception, Pierre is now in his third year teaching instructional modules for Basic, Cadre, and Supervisor courses. He facilitates small group exercises, assists with course set up and organization, and is a certified Crisis Prevention Institute instructor. Pierre’s experience as a mental health specialist involved in treatment teams observing high-risk and aggressive adolescent clients’ behavioral disorders has informed much of the knowledge he brings to the courses he helps lead. Pierre has completed multiple professional training courses in the fields of human services and professional development training and instruction. Pierre certified as an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor and received the Leadership Award at the Rehabilitation Training Instructors Course. Pierre recently relocated from Alaska to Blanco, Texas and is currently building a home to share with his wife, Andrea, and two children, Cody William, eleven, and Cierra Willow, one. Pierre is many times over a small business owner and entrepreneur, but also enjoys fishing, bow hunting, RVing, singing, playing guitar, and cowboy poetry. Pierre freelances as a rodeo clown, traveling the rodeo circuits and performing as a barrel man.
