Reverend W. Wilson Goode, PhD
Senior Consultant

For more than forty years, Dr. W. Wilson Goode has been a leader. He has led in the military, the government, the Church, and through civic, social action and neighborhood organizations. This valuable leadership expertise plays an important role in his position as a senior consultant to DMT.

As Director of the Amachi program, a faith-based national mentoring model for children of incarcerated parents, Dr. Goode is highly adept at pairing the faith community with volunteering in order to create successful mentoring programs. Implementing his knowledge of the Amachi model, he recommends effective mentoring practices for DMT’s Mentoring Children of Prisoners (MCP) contract. By providing knowledge and consultation through hands-on training, subject matter expertise, and technical assistance, Dr. Goode ensures successful results.

Dr. Goode has served on more than forty corporate, civic, religious and neighborhood boards of directors. He has provided leadership on issues of civil rights, education, housing, mentoring and faith-based initiatives. During this time he has helped to create more livable communities by building housing and organizing intervention programs in education, employment, and economic development. The First African American to be elected Mayor of Philadelphia in 1983, Dr. Goode been recognized for his contributions by more than 2,000 organizations with awards, certificates and honors. Fourteen colleges and universities have recognized him with honorary doctorates.

Dr. Goode attended Morgan State University, where he received a BA in history and political science. He returned to school and received a Masters in Governmental Administration from the Wharton School’s Fels Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Thirty years later he entered the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary and received his Doctorate of Ministry in May 2000. He and his wife, Velma, have one son, two daughters and two granddaughters.
